Boycott China

Boycott China. It is time to seriously bring production and business back to the United States of America. It is time to end tourism to China and more importantly, it is time to boycott Chinese goods.

There are claims of the pro-business types that democracy follows free markets and so our governmental policy has been to support China. However, as we can see, in spite of our efforts, in spite of our tax dollars, and in spite of our consumer dollars, China remains a one-party communistic dictatorship. The Chinese governement is considered one of the worst in terms of violating human rights. The Chinese people are oppressed by a government that tolerates no dissension. Most recently, doctors calling out to warn the world of a virulent fast-spreading disease were quieted and people are ‘disappeared’. We cannot, as a freedom loving democracy, continue to support this oppressive murderous regime. The Chinese leaders are not our allies. They will gladly take our money with one hand and stab us in the back with the other. The Chinese leaders are not supporters of democracy as we can see by how the treat their protestors even as recently as the protests in Hong Kong.

While we are frustrated with the Chinese government, remember, the government is not its people. The Chinese people do not get to vote for their leaders as we do and opposition is swiftly put down. However by buying from Chinese companies we are putting money in the Chinese government’s pockets. By purchasing from China, we are hurting our own manufacturers and we can see in times of crisis, such as now, we do not want to be dependent on another country for necessary goods and services.

To make America self-sufficient again, we need to BUY AMERICAN. We need to Boycott China. We need to research products before we buy and stop buying items imported from China.

The Chinese have been sending us dangerous items for years and we as a country keep coming back for more.

90% of toys bought in the U.S. are made in China but these toys may be poisoning our children. In 2007 the toy maker Mattel had to issue a recall of almost one million toys and Thomas the Train manufacturer Rc2 recalled 1.5 million trains and accessories. Both of these companies imported their toys from a Chinese supplier and they were coated in lead paint. A million pounds of suspect Chinese seafood arrived on American shelves that same year. Hundreds of thousands of radial tires were recalled after a New Jersey company disclosed that its Chinese manufacturer had discontinued a safety feature that prevented the tires from coming apart.

That same year U.S. consumers were advised to throw out all toothpaste made in China after federal health officials discovered products containing diethylene glycol. The FDA identified several toothpaste brands containing dangerous amounts of the poisonous chemical. Colgate found that China had exported counterfeit toothpaste with its label to 4 US states and they too were recalled due to concerns they contained DEG.

Pets throughout the U.S. died of renal failure when Chinese made ingredients were included in popular pet foods.

in 2014 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security warned on the dangers of counterfeit cosmetics purchased online. China was one of the top violators. Counterfeit makeup products mimicking brands like MAC and Chanel were found to have high levels of lead, beryllium, aluminum and bacteria. Even non-counterfeit Chinese brands have been noted to have lead in their lipsticks and mercury in their skin creams.

Most recently, the Chinese had a chance to nip this Covid-19 pandemic in the bud, but they were more worried about their appearance to the rest of the world than they were about saving the lives of their own people. 20 days after the appearance of the first Coronavirus case, the government began shutting down social media discussions on the new virus. They detained Dr. Li Wenliang, a whistleblower, for posting concerns over this SARS-like virus. This brave doctor has since passed away from contracting the Covid-19 virus himself.

Now we are paying the price for the Chinese government hiding the extend of their Coronavirus outbreak. Their secrecy and subterfuge cost the rest of the world valuable time in getting prepared for this crisis, not to mention sacrificing their own people by not allowing experts into their country to help.

We American taxpayers cannot continue to support China’s aggression in the hopes that we will win them over to democracy. We must start supporting American businesses and reducing our dependence on a country that has been so harmful to us.

They Chinese government does not respect U.S. Patents and Copyrights and they produce counterfeit items which they they sell back to US consumers, to the detrimental cost to US businesses. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency released the figures that in 2019 over 10% of all mail coming from China either contains Fentanyl or counterfeit goods. And we pay for it! The Chinese pay less to mail a package to your neighbor than you do thanks to the WTO trade agreement to lower their shipping costs which are then subsidized by US Taxpayers. The WTO designated China an emerging economy almost 20 years ago and this agreement was supposed to help them develop their economy, but every dollar we put towards the Chinese economy has been allowing them to harm U.S citizens and allies and keep their own people oppressed.

To this day China remains a brutal dictatorship with one of the worst human rights records on the planet. Their genocide of the Tibetan people and the persecution of Christians, Uighur Muslims and Buddhists alike are only a few of the reasons why we as Americans should be BUYING AMERICAN and reducing our dependence on a government that wishes us ill.

This government is a danger to its own people and to the world.

I urge all Americans, of both political parties, to join together in a nationwide boycott of all Chinese-made goods.

American consumers have the most power in ending support to a government that oppresses its own people and does so much damage to the rest of the world. We have the power with the dollar in our pocket. All we have to say is that we will no longer buy Chinese goods and then search out other sources.

Chinese leaders may defy international law, they may ignore human rights, but they will surely take notice when their supply of U.S. dollars begins to trickle off.

Most recently, they bungled the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus and now they’re trying to rewrite history by telling the world that the U.S. released the virus there as a terrorist act. This is not the first act of aggression towards American citizens by the Communist Chinese nor will it be the last.
